The Power to Choose and when ....... to Re-call !
The National Electoral Commission was established a few years
ago to put into effect and cement further some of the milestones
the Provisional Government (Government of National Unity)
had achieved in Decentralisation, Good Governance, Justice,
Gender balance etc.
The Seat Of the Commission
The National Electoral Commission's Headquarters are located
on the 4th Floor of Kabuga Building's Northern Wing.
The Commission's activities extend to all the country's Provincial
headquarters, Districts, Towns and Trading Centers. Within
Electoral periods, their agents go down to the lowest local
government structures known as zones. These Zones encompass
a few dozen homesteads or families.
After securing the borders of Rwanda and the reconstitution
of the rule of law, the very first interventions of the Government
of National Unity (after Genocide) was good governance (decentralisation,
democratisation and poverty reduction). Projects like dot-ORG
Rwanda were created to support such efforts.
For most of the people of Rwanda, this was the very first election they had had. For all of them, it was the very first devoid of naked violence and indimidation.
